Call for Abstracts
Africa is honoured to invite you to the 1st Pan-African Psychology Congress (PAPU2017) to be held in Durban, South Africa on 18-21 September 2017. PAPU2017 is proudly hosted by the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA), in collaboration with various African psychology societies and universities, under the auspices of the Pan-African Psychology Union (PAPU). This first-ever continental psychology congress promises to be a memorable professional and scientific experience in a unique social and cultural setting. Embracing the theme Psychology for Society, this historic PAPU2017 will showcase the best in psychology and its allied disciplines, featuring academics, researchers, practitioners and students from Africa and the rest of our diverse globe.
Psychology for Society embodies the ideals to which the discipline ought to be striving in making ours a better and more just world, where inequalities, human rights abuses, ill health and suffering are reduced, and the wellbeing of all is enhanced. While PAPU2017 seeks to chart a positive trajectory for the growth of psychology in Africa, the scientific programme will reflect global cutting-edge and critical trends, including epistemological, theoretical and applied developments and innovations that will contribute to the discipline in all its forms, so that there is more consonance between psychology and the people and environments that make up fast-changing societies everywhere. The scientific programme – catering to all areas of psychology and related disciplines such as psychiatry, social work and education – will feature distinguished keynote addresses, invited and focal symposia, and compelling presentations by eminent experts and emerging specialists in the field.
PAPU2017 will be held at the iconic Durban International Convention Centre, a premier centrally located venue close to the finest beaches and other accessible and affordable amenities. The vibrant city of Durban, boasting an ideal climate and colourful heritage, is South Africa’s playground and 2nd largest city. PAPU2017 will offer a variety of safaris and tours, enabling you to explore the array of activities, cultures and warm hospitality of the people of South Africa and the continent.
We invite you to submit abstracts to actively share your knowledge, skills and experience with psychologists and other audiences from across the globe at this momentous congress. Symposia, oral papers, posters and innovative presentations are welcome. Abstract submission opens on 21 November 2016 and closes on 31 March 2017.
