Dr Yogan Pillay trained as a clinical psychologist as well as public health. He has a Phd from the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University. He is currently the Deputy Director General in the National Department of Health and is responsible for the HIV, TB and MNCH programmes. He is the author and co-author of numerous academic publications including the Textbook of International Health (1999) and the Textbook of Global Health (2017). He is a member of the WHO STAC for HIV and Hepatitis as well as the UNAIDS STAC.014.
